No. 001 - The Anniversary Pendant

It was weeks to their anniversary, and admittedly, she needed this one to feel special. They’d just lost their first love, and as they grieved, she wanted to surprise him with something meaningful and memorable. 

After deciding that jewellery was the most fitting gift, she got to work on the design. As a professional talented designer, finding an aesthetic her husband would love wasn’t going to be a struggle. The difficult part would be creating a piece that would love him back. A piece that could serve as a physical conduit of love and meaning by carrying the message she needed it to. A worthy piece to bear a heavy load. Only the most carefully crafted jewellery could achieve this feat. 

That is why she worked closely with her jeweller to create me. Together, they determined all my details: The engraving on my back that would bear her name, and the name of their child. The space they saved next to the engravings, for all their future children. The pavé finish on my bale because he loves a little shine. Even the details of when and how I would arrive. 

A piece for those we’ve lost

For those she loved, I was forged in the fire. Five grams of gold, melted and crafted to hold everything that was dear to their hearts. Memories were poured into me. Love hammered around my softened edges. Happiness etched into my golden skin. 

She made me. Partly to replace his old pendant, the one he’d been meaning to change for a while, but mostly because she knew they needed me. She made me and then she chose me. Because the moment she saw me, she knew that she had succeeded, and I was the one capable of holding the weight of their love. 

She chose me, and I am determined to represent everything she needed me to be. Everything I was made to be. 

On 14/02/2026, I arrived at my new home. And I’ve been hanging here since. 

A quiet reminder of those we have lost. A celebration, in honor of those we love. And a promise, to those we’ll love for a lifetime.
